ORNAMENT
2009
site-specific video installation
LINEMENT, 17’30 min (loop), 1 channel, b/w, no sound
2 monitors, DVD player
Kunstmuseum Bonn
in cooperation with Oleg Yushko

There are two flat monitors attached to the walls on both sides of the staircase in the museum’s foyer. Both of them show, in absolute synchrony, the same looped video of a white line moving across the black screen. The rhythm of the line’s programmed movement and its rotation build an ORNAMENT. The purpose of this work is an examination of the synthesis between video and architecture, the juxtaposition of three different rhythms: that of architecture, that of the image and that of spectators’ own movement.
