“Before a blue sky, the artist unceasingly waves a monumental flag whose presence dominates the entire scene. Whereas flags are usually ostentatious emblems of a sense of community, this one is a forceful manifestation of an individual. For several years now, the artist has been using the white stripe on a black ground as a central symbol — based on constructivist imagery but in her works evoking processes of movement and rhythm. The flying flag here lays claim to an autonomous artistic territory.”
– Renate Buschmann, from the text for the exhibition project “Looking at the Big Sky”
